Comparison of Football between America and England
What we call football in America does not mean the same thing in England, where, ironically, football is origniated. People in America refer to what English call football as soccer, and There simply is not a thing to which Americans refer as football(rogby is not American football) in England.
It is quite interesting to compare American football with English football, which, according to Englsih, is the authentic one. Just like our obsession with football, English also have a same obsession with their respective football. American got NFL, and English dudes got their Barclays Premium League--just a fancy name to show off. However, BPL is not the only league with which English football clubs participate; they also play for several domestic cups and the EUCL, the European Champions League, which is just like the playoffs but held among multiple nations.
Normally each team from both NFL and BPL only play one game per week, but there are several occasions where they have to play two games per week. There are 20 teams in BPL, and each team has to play 38 games, with a spin from August to May the next coming year. In BPL, winning a game means 3 points, tie a game means 1 point, and losing one means 0 point. The team which ends up in the first position gets the trophy, top 4 gets a chance to play in European Champions League next season, 5th to 7th gets a chance to play in Europa League, and last 3 gets delegation.
Just like NFL, BPL makes a ridiculously amount of money each year. It is said that from the season 2016-2017, BPL will be able to make about 4 billion UK pounds per year merely from broadcasting.
There are about 4 super teams in Premier League: Chelsea, Manchster City, Manchster United, and Arsenal.
Apart from BPL, there are several other leagues of soccer in England, which are all inferior to BLP. The top teams from those leagues could get promoted into an upper level league. So each year, there are 3 teams get delegated from Premier League into Emglish Champions League, and 3 teams get promoted to Premier League.
